This falls under the "I can't believe someone was paid to create a study about shit we already took for granted as true."

Most dirt countries suck because: Dirt Country.

Edit: I can hear some people objecting "But polygeek, the first heart transplant happened on the continent of Africa." Yessir, that would be correct. In South Africa, by a white dude...and his progeny are being hunted because the natives are restless.

I honestly wonder if you've never heard of Neil deGrasse Tyson.

This is exactly the problem. Who wants to be a blossoming debt burden on their family?

I have enough money to retire right now, if I sold everything and went to a shitty part of the country. As it is, I will have to keep working if I want to make sure my loved ones are cared for after I pass.

The one point I don't really agree with is your supposition the gov't is supposed to help the people. They need to get entirely out of that business, because most of their "help" is killing us through dollar devaluation, picking winners via unjustly written corporate laws and a metric fuckton of ineffective social programs. There used to be a site to audit this sort of thing by the GAO called expectmore.gov - so many of the programs had zero efficacy but still received money and it upset people, so somebody turned it off during the Obama administration.
