Time for an update submitted by Atko to whatever

despite popular belief, Voat is still not a corporation

What? Then what does this, titled 1 month ago called "Voat, the student side-project is now Voat, Inc.!" mean? Obviously it will be a "popular belief" if you make a huge stickey'd announcement about it...

Hi there,

I appreciate the concern, and I agree that things like this should be paid attention to. To be honest, I'm not sure why I mod so many big subverses, it just sort of happened. I applied to /v/politics about a week ago because I'm on that sub 24/7 and read almost all the links that get posted there anyways, so I thought it might make sense to apply. I also did/am doing the CSS for many of these subs, and is a part of the reason I was invited initially. As for the others, I am friends with the mods there and they happened to invite me to help out. An example of this is /v/iama, where @Clayton reached out to me and asked me to help out.

I have taken almost no mod actions on all of these subs, and plan to keep them open and free. I modded absolutely nothing on reddit and rarely commented. If people are concerned about me being a "power mod", I will happily step down on some of these subverses, but I would like to think I am doing a good job so far.

What did they do this time? submitted by Atko to announcements

AskVoat & Atko Shitstorm of 2015 submitted by Fact_Checking_Alien to SeriousDiscussion

Thank you so much for this post @Fact_Checking_Alien. I thought I was going insane being the only one to realize that this whole "controversy" was ridiculous to begin with. I'm very, very troubled that @Atko seems to have fallen for this ploy and responded with such a knee-jerk reaction.

Loads and loads of subverses use "meta" subs to host discussions. Not everyone is interested in meta discussions. Some subs have enough of these discussions that it would clump up the page otherwise. Moving discussions to a different place for more focussed dialogue is not censorship, has never been complained about before, and is a well accepted practice.

The v/askvoat @she situation. submitted by jerengineer to ELI5

You're misrepresenting the facts, it's not like she's removing threads just for "lack of punctuation", as if threads are getting deleted when users forget an apostrophe somewhere.

She's removing threads that violate the very first rule on the subverse, which is clearly stated as the first item on the sidebar. Whether or not you agree with the rule, the entire mod team, not just @she agreed upon it, and actively enforce it. If there is a problem with the rule, start a discussion on /v/modsofaskvoat, rather than witchhunting and blaming /u/she for everything.
