Can we lift the restrictions on upvoating comments and posts for the first few months? As a long time Reddit user it is incredibly frustrating not being able to shape the content on this site submitted by somecallmemike to ideasforvoat

I actually think it's a good system, if flawed. I've been saving my votes for higher quality content and been participating in more discussions and content creation. The goal shouldn't be to bring in as many users as possible but to foster good discussion and create good content which the system does well.

Women DO NOT Earn Only 77 Cents On The Dollar For The Same Work For The Love of God STOP Saying This submitted by TexasComments to politics

It perpetuates the myth that women are disadvantaged in the workplace, when everywhere I work this has been the opposite of true. I've worked in research labs where there's a strong hiring bias towards women, i've worked blue collar jobs and seen men passed for promotion in favor of less qualified women to meet quotas.

Framing the wage gap as an earnings gap make people think that there's a systematic bias against women in the workplace, and ignores the fact that men and women behave differently.

Men and women aren't the same; men will always be more willing to enter high-risk, high-reward fields. The only possible way to level the earnings gap would be to severely handicap men in the hiring and promotion processes. There should be zero regard to sex in these processes, the only thing that should matter is merit.

They're only threatened by MtF, because it threatens their inherent victim status as women. Notice all the focus on "real women" and "exploiting victims" (ie women). It's victim politics, SJW's are on the side of women and racial minorities and LGBT's because of the power that comes with being a victim. As more people are coming to accept transsexualism though victim politics becomes weaker; if you convince people that race/gender are societal constructs and that people are free to identify as they like then the conventional victim groups (women, racial minorities, lgb people) lose their victim power.

As bigotry becomes less and less acceptable and more people adopt a live and let live mentality the career-victims lose. We're starting to see the beginnings of this. The sub you linked and the outrage over the "transracial" NAACP leader are telltale signs that SJW's are starting to have to cannibalize themselves. It's also why they're so quick to jump on anything that could potentially be viewed as bigotry, but as there becomes less actual bigotry to point out they're turning to invisible boogeymen. I think people are starting to figure it out and aren't drinking the koolaid anymore.

Hit the character limit so had to wrap it up.The main thing i'd like people to take away from this post is that while SJW's warriors answer to discrimination is more discrimination, and while they do look for problems where there are none, institutionalized discrimination does still exist here in the US. The death of victim politics can't come soon enough but is only half of the victory. The other half is the elimination of the remaining bastions of systematic discrimination. Also remember that professional victims are narcissists who feed off attention, do not give it to them and they'll result to making up even more ridiculous and controversial problems.

Yep, and while people shouldn't casually use intentionally offensive language we've reached the point where just trying to explain a politically incorrect stance without offending anybody is like stepping over glass. When enough people are trying hard to be offended anything you say can be taken as offense, and the free exchange of ideas dies.

Nobody has the right not to be offended, and saying "i'm offended" is not a refutation of any idea. It's whining that ignores the merits or flaws of the idea.
