Reddit is desperately trying hard to avoid going the Digg way with new site 'Upvoted' submitted by friesandketchup to news

mscomies 0 points 167 points (+167|-0) ago

Upvoted won’t have banner ads or pop-ups, but will instead feature sponsored posts written by advertisers by the same team that writes its standard stories. The write-ups will be paid for and approved by the company behind the sponsorship deal. These ads, Chang tells WIRED, will be as good as normal posts.

So, it'll basically be a subreddit full of shills and corporate whores. Good luck with that one guys!

Protesters at Yale University have released a new list of demands that include firing people they don't like and giving their favored programs a budget increase of at least $8 million a year submitted by TerriChris to news

Of the Yale student’s demands, the most expensive is the third, which orders the school to increase the budget for Yale’s four cultural centers (for Asians, blacks, Hispanics, and American Indians) by two million dollars each, a total expense of $8 million.

Asian here. Leave us the fuck out of your culture wars.

How many of these 57+ 'reprehensible' subreddits will get the axe after the AMA of Reddit CEO Steve Huffman tomorrow? Place your bets and add further candidates for the chop in the comments. submitted by puffellen69 to MeanwhileOnReddit

You should add /r/pcmasterrace to the betting pool. They've gotten heat for being the biggest subreddit which isn't under control of the admin/powermods cabal. Seriously....check their mod profiles. Not a single representative from r/SRS, r/gaming, or any default subreddit mods.

r/pcmasterrace also temporarily got banned in 2013 which resulted in a gamergate style shitpost storm on all gaming subreddits until it was reinstated. The admin explanation for the banning looked word for word identical to the FPH ban from last month. It's a long shot bet, but I can definitely see the admins trying to find an excuse to get rid of them again to cement their hold on reddit and to make reddit look more attractive to advertisers such as Sony, Microsoft, and Apple.

Breaking: Trump keeps his promise to Anderson Cooper and releases letter from his accountant submitted by public_persuader to politics

Not exactly. He could have taken all the money he inherited in the 1970s, tossed it into an index fund, and still make twice the amount of money he made in the last 40 years. Trump sucks at business.
