Voat checks your percentage of up vs downvotes and will stop registering downvotes if you're a "meanie" submitted by danunit to whatever

IMHO downvote ratio should be allowed to be higher than upvote until some threshold, and to me 2× - 3× more downvote than upvote is still reasonable. Downvoting trolls is an important contribution.

Edit: my point is: I think voting is all about how we want the comments/thread to be sorted. We all want the ones that actually contribute to the forum to go up, and the crap ones to go down. Pulling the crap down with downvote has the same effect with pushing all the other ones to go up. So, downvoting is not necessarily a mean action, and shouldn't be discouraged by the algorithm. Which part of my logic is wrong?
