I know there has been a tiresome debate about protecting jailbait because it isn't illegal, but is it? I checked the sub and /v/TrueJailbait, where I found a lot of naked 13 year old girls. What now? submitted by Stoic to AskVoat

Free speech does not imply immunity to the law. Moral or not, the photos posted on those subverses are illegal. They are not only a stain on the website, but also a reason for legal action to be taken against it. If you so enjoy free speech, then I'm sure you will want to protect this website, a place for all manner of free speech. Voat is NOT however a website dedicated to hosting illegal images, and I'm sure that it we would not want to appear that way and face legal prosecution.

look you dumb fag...

...demonizing male sexuality.

Throwing around deragatory terms directed at someones sexuality and then acusing another group of a biased agenda based on sexuality seems a tad hypocritical.

Fascinating Backstory on Ellen Pao and her Husband. submitted by itsthedude to news

Hey man, I hate Pao as much as the next guy, but this post is pretty close to breaking rule 8. If we want to make this site different from...the other place...we should at least follow our own rules.

Excellent overview. I would like to add that discussion is not as encouraged at an early level as much as it should be. We are taught facts, not ideas. We are told to take notes more than we are told to ask questions. We are asked to listen without speaking. This habit of soaking in and then regurgitating the same information and ideas stays with you for life. It is the society we were raised in. Rather than think critically, we think what we are taught. It leads to a lack of new ideas, a lack of discussion, and the general apathy that this post questions.
