Third Poll Shows Sanders Leading Clinton In New Hampshire, Competitive In Iowa submitted by Agedwithaview to politics

Capitalism works great until you run out of other people's money.

You're a fool if you think simply a "degree in the sciences" is all it takes to become a billionaire. You're also going to have to either work your ass off, inherit a fortune, get lucky, or some combination of those things, and even then you likely won't make it to the super rich.

Or are you one of those "temporarily embarrassed billionaire" types?

Alabama republican introduces bill to eliminate overtime pay submitted by Ilikebordercollies to politics

Not every worker is in a position in which they have power (knowledge, skills, experience) to negotiate. Low skill labor can be easily replaced if their employers don't want to negotiate pay or benefits. Unions are practically non existent in the US (less than 10% of the work force in the private sector). So low skilled labor can't even bargain collectively. Should they try to go on strike or organize somehow, the employer can fire them all and hire new with little interruption for the business.

Women DO NOT Earn Only 77 Cents On The Dollar For The Same Work For The Love of God STOP Saying This submitted by PresidentRubio to politics

Don't forget how he believes rape culture is real, women pretty much only suffer from domestic violence. Also he believes women fantasize about being raped

Are you fucking kidding me? You must be talking about that essay from 1972. The campaign has already called it a dumb attempt at dark satire which was supposed to criticize gender stereotypes. Do you know what satire is? He was not being hypocritical at all. He was using exaggeration to prove a point. That's all there is to it.

Feds Order Georgia to Process Food stamps for Syrian Refugees submitted by Joker68 to news

Get real. We wouldn't be taking proper care of the homeless either way. If you don't want to be taking in refugees or helping them, then fine. Say it. But I'm sick of people trying to use this as an excuse.

Do you also think the idea of someone leaving one country to permanently live in another country is retarded and insane? People do it quite a bit. The US is made up almost entirely of people descended from those who did that. Lots of people did it to escape crappy countries. I really don't understand how this concept could be "retarded and insane."

Fuck you, reddit. submitted by roark to whatever

Here's the reason it was locked for anyone who's interested. Male suicide and suicide in general is a serious issue. But don't go thinking the thread was locked because reddit mods decided that men suck or that men's health issues don't matter.

We have decided to lock this thread due to the massive amount of arguments it's spawned as well as the constant influx of uncivil comments. Additionally, due to the sensitive nature of the matter in question, I believe it'd be appropriate to link a couple of resources for those that are going through difficult times:

Suicide isn't a topic I delve into much, but here's what I found researching it way back in grade school many years ago. Suicide rate for men is indeed higher than for women, but it has been this way for a long time. Women do actually make more attempts. However, men are much more likely to use more lethal means (e.g. a gun) than women are, and therefore men are more likely to complete the act. This in turn leads to a higher suicide rate for men. I'm not sure if this is entirely true today. As I said I don't delve into this topic much, if ever.
