This is normal in civil cases, particularly where the offender refuses to admit any guilt, then doubles down on their offense. Likely, the final amount will be in the six figure range with a non-disclosure agreement keeping the actual number from public view.

Gun Owners of America: Right To Carry Doesn't Stop At State's Border - Breitbart submitted by HomerChimpson to news

There's nothing clear about the 2nd amendment. Within the amendment itself is says that the States' rights to bare arms shall not be infringed for the purpose of having a well-regulated militia. There is nothing "well-regulated militia"-eque about individual citizens carrying their own guns without state regulation governing such for the purpose of maintaining a National Guard. 14th amendment extended this as a right to citizens protection from state and local governments, but not very clearly. As a state right, it doesn't make much sense being applied to individual citizens, so the courts have been trying to sort out this poorly worded amendment and the effects of the 14th upon it for well over a century. Also, the amendment doesn't prevent any level of government from regulating how and what guns are manufactured within their jurisdiction. It only protects the right bare them. Technically, that doesn't even mean you have the right to own a gun. You just have a right to hold one when you wish, as ownership and utilization are too different things.

"People" didn't mean you and me until the 14th Amendment. It also is a collective term that refers to us as a body, not as individuals.

Replacing how the nouns didn't change any of meanings of the verbs. All you did was create an even sillier example about the poor wording of the amendment.
