Yes, I did. Deleted my Reddit account.

It's ancient history these days, but the same thing was true of the old alt.tasteless of yore, back when Usenet was the thing.

Well, here is an entry that describes what alt.tasteless was:

https://encyclopediadramatica.se/Alt.tasteless

It's the same story that seems to repeat throughout internet history. Before there was the web but after there was the internet, there were people who posted on Usenet stories and conceits that many considered outside the realm of polite conversation. So, the newsgroup "alt.tasteless" emerged, and all those tasteless people slowly congregated there, ultimately forming their own community. I participated in it quite a bit, back in the day. (As an aside, the thing that I miss about it was that we all insisted that our tastelessness be as sharp, witty, and/or as close to perfection as possible. It was a community that strove to make ourselves better writers by caustically whipping each other when we performed below par (metaphorically), of course.) Jeffrey Dahmer posted to the group a couple of times.

Here is alt.tasteless' FAQ and phrase book:

http://www.faqs.org/faqs/tasteless/faq/ http://www.faqs.org/faqs/tasteless/phrase-book/

As a result of the group's formation, people attracted to such outlandish and (in some peoples' eyes) horrible ideas found a home there, and as a result they frequented ("infested"?) other newsgroups where "normal" people hung out much much less. So, everyone was happy, at least until alt.tasteless started invading other groups like rec.pets.cats, what would be known as "brigading" today.

Does Moon Rotate? submitted by opmjc to space

blankey2 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Is the correct answer "relative to what"?

It does "rotate" but relative to the earth it doesn't, as we see the same "face" all the time. But relative to a fixed position in space it would have to rotate in order to keep that face to a constantly moving earth.

Someone smarter than me put this in more proper terms, please.

Just curious. What kind of gun was it? And he was an FFL? These types of transactions are unknown in Pennsylvania at gun shows.
