Deleted from TIL: In 2006 a woman tried living as a man for 18 months as part of an experiment on "male privilege." She walked away from the experiment realizing that men are also suffering. submitted by battle to MeanwhileOnReddit

I've read the book and this title is completely miss leading. A woman did not go undercover to check out "male privilege". She went under cover because she was curious about it and wanted to understand men better. She spent time on a bowling team, picking up women in a bar (a few even slept with her after knowing she was a woman), door to door hyper macho selling company, a monastery and finally a men's support retreat. She had to stop cross dressing because she wasn't able to handle the two identities together. While at the retreat she started to hope the men would hurt her and started seeking self destructive situations. This lead to her spending some time in a mental hospital and then she went on to write a book about different mental hospital set ups and what she found worked best for her and those around her.

Goddamn it Voat, you fuckers need to stop parroting things you hear on the internet and go to the actual source. They're good reads and you'll find something out about yourself when you see someone unfamiliar with your way of life being inserted into it.

No. Evolution doesn't work that face. Women still go for manly men until they get too old to be grade A and then they settle down with an effeminate man because she can walk all over him and he spent his time collecting resources unlike her and the people she was screwing. It's classic female behaviour in many species, you fuck the alpha but latch onto the beta.

Can someone explain the gamer gate controversy to me? submitted by CONGLOM-O to AskVoat

Robotsarecool 0 points 36 points (+36|-0) ago

The Gamergate wiki is pretty accurate but here is a tl;dr version.

Gaming journalists hate their audience, they don't enjoy games, they enjoy identity politics and try to use their platform to push their agenda. Gamers got sick of it and started to ignore the press mostly and just accept they were going to post articles full of misandry and racism. Then an indie game developer (she made an interactive story)'s ex posted a run down on how she domestically abused him and slept with multiple games journalists who pushed her "game" on their websites. This got out and people started to talk about it under the name "Quinnspiracy", the deeper people dug, the more the corruption was obvious. Gamers had finally had enough and started a full on revolt against the media. Then a mass wave of censorship happened, 4chan, Reddit and every major gaming news website refused to cover the story, they banned discussion, banned people for even attempt to discuss it and that caused it to spread like wild fire. Everyone wanted to know why some no name developer was so important that no one was allowed to discuss how her sleeping with journalists and causing a conflict of interest. It turned out they were trying to censor it because she was a woman and in their identity politic's world view if you oppose 1 nasty woman you oppose all women, so they had no choice but to rally round this woman, even though she is the text book definition of an abusive, cheating, vile little bitch.

Adam Baldwin (a hollywood actor) came across the videos and joked it should be called Gamergate, which it then became known as. In response the journalists decided to post articles claiming "Gamers are dead" and "Gamers don't need to be your audience", the response was for Gamergate to look harder at these news sources and found a barrel full of corruption and suspicious behavior from dodgy awards, to covering housemates/girlfriend's games without stating they had a personal relationship and sexual favours out the ass. (This is now covered by Deep freeze, a website set up to cover unethical journalist behavior).

From this point forward, it became a battle of the culture war. Feminist ideology known as "progressiveness" and "cultural Marxism" on one side and Gamers on the other. The feminists press arguing that gamers hate women and are driving them out of the industry, while a diverse group of gamers argued that the press needs to go fuck themselves because they're corrupt and pushing feminist propaganda into a space where it isn't welcome. From there to here not a lot has changed. Gamergate has been contacting advertisers of various corrupt media outlets and cost them millions of dollars, multiple journalists have lost their jobs or "relocated" else where and basically Gamergate has pushed identity politics out of gaming and made it "undesirable" to be part of.

The key to remember when seeing articles about Gamergate is the conflict is entirely about unethical journalism and identity politics (read : feminism) being injected into a space where it's not welcome and only causes trouble. The unethical press has zero defense against this, there is no way to say "yea, we had a secret mailing list to push our agenda across every major gaming website, but we're not unethical". So instead of defending themselves, they took to the offensive in the only way identity politics zealots know how to, using -isms. You're racist/sexist/transphobic/right wing conservative traditionalist/whatever because you don't support progressive identity politics. So any coverage you will see will focus entirely on 3 people, 2 of which self inserted themselves (Wu and Anita) and 1 who isn't important but is the straw who broke the camel's back. They all have connections to a PR company at the center of the corruption (silverstring media), who once again are part of the feminist progressive's identity politics group, which gamers are tired of being abused by and want out of positions of power in their community.

The wiki here will cover exact details, but that's a run down from someone who has been part of it since the first day the Quinnspiracy broke.

In Under a Minute, this Cop Shows Exactly Why People are Losing Faith in Police submitted by datjedi to news

Robotsarecool 5 points -4 points (+1|-5) ago

Said like a little kid who has no idea about statistics what so ever. There are literally millions of cops on the street of America right now, can you even picture what a million people look like? On that scale you're going to get fucked up people but that doesn't mean every cop is fucked up.

It's not an excuse, it's statistical fact. WHITE COP SHOOTS INNOCENT BLACK GUY, when it's a Mexican cop and the black guy is a known criminal who assaulted him is what you're falling for. You're so ignorant to what is going on because you listen to clickbait race bating articles that are designed to make maximum profit while doing huge damage to society's trust in each other at the same time. Next time you go "ALL COPS ARE BAD! FUCKING SCUM FUCK PRICKS!" ask yourself when was the last time you heard about all the good they do and when cops put their lives on the line so ungrateful people like you can live in a peaceful society. There are problems with the police, but with any organization that big where people have to rely on each other in extremely hostile situations you're going to see that. Try not to be such a snotty little brat to them and shit talk them all over the Internet, because at least they're trying to defend society, even while people like you spit in their faces and tell them they're the scum of the Earth.

Police are the reason you can sleep safe in your bed at night.
