I had a lot of fun playing this with my old scout troop...they were all terrible liars.

Egyptian Rat Screw, or ERS. This game works much better the more players you have, as the object is to collect the entire deck.

  1. Deal entire deck to all players. (All players must keep their cards face down.)
  2. The dealer flips their top card away from himself and places it face up in the center of the table.
  3. The player to his left quickly does the same, and so on and so forth.
  4. Upon two of the same card being placed down in a row ( two fours ), or a "sandwich" ( four, six, four ), any player may slap the deck to claim all cards that have been played so far as their own.
  5. If multiple slap at once, the player who contacted the deck first, or is on the bottom of the pile of hands gets the cards.
  6. Play resumes with the player who took the deck.
  7. If only one player has cards in their hand (and hasn't won all of them, for example if other players ran out while placing), they continue to quickly place down cards until they can claim the pile...or someone else does.

Players who run out of cards may still attempt to slap the deck to get back in the game, and those wishing to join a game in progress may do the same. A variation of the game is ERTS (Thunder Style, after the camp we attended), requires players to touch their foreheads before slapping the deck (Hurts...get it?). My friends nearly gave themselves concussions playing this, as they were unable to stop on their head gently...

Archaeologists Baffled By 2,000 Tiny Gold Spirals Discovered In Denmark submitted by madmalloy to theunexplained

I like that theory. They do look similar to the sort of shavings you get when cutting metal, but they almost seem to regular to me. The spiral on most metal shavings I've seen tend to taper down on the ends, though I've never had the opportunity to use a lathe.
