Apparently one of the attackers brought his Syrian passport with him on the attack in Paris. submitted by Tleilaxu_Ghola to Conspiracy

But, wouldn't terrorists benefit from spreading information that he was syrian? It creates panic with the hundreds of thousands of syrian refugees flooding europe. Whether ISIS is responsible or not they will try to take credit to spread that very same panic about the migrants.

I think these four will serve the world well.

Is it a coincidence that after centuries of violent warfare Europe has become exceptionally peaceful after the bulk of its population renounced their religious faith? submitted by Empire_of_the_mind to Europe

Europe's real enemy was nationalism, not religion. European integration, especially in NATO, did more for Europe than irreligion. The outliers are of course the Yugoslav wars or perhaps the Russian military's vacations, but as these happened outside of an integrating europe and I think it shows how important a United Europe is in keeping the continent in peace.

But it's many factors, I personally would count growing irreligion as a cause for a calmer Europe. Although it's important to note that the whole world became calmer. Probably due to nuclear weapons amongst the great powers.

The world is ending, there is a space ship leaving Earth that only has a limited amount of space. Why are you allowed on? submitted by Renoco to AskVoat

Farrago 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Because the chinese construction workers who were building it revolted and took the ship. I was nearby and needed to decipher the owner's manual. We will form an evil space dynasty that will invade the earth centuries later in a major cinematic event that we will call Iron Sky III.

What's a more scientific reference point to this exact day that isn't biblically related? What time in history could we use instead? submitted by Makingbaconpancakes to AskVoat

I would vote that we simply make the first year we used the calendar as the first year. if we implemented it next year, that'd be year one. Not very exciting, but we'd know where the beginning was with great certainty and I think it'd be the most fair.

If you expect it to replace the current calendar year then we'd have to convince 7 billion people of it. I don't think picking a western historical event will sell it. Scientific would be the way to go, but I doubt we'd agree on an event.
