This actually made me laugh a few times. His antics were childish, but so were those of the people he was heckling.

Systemd already created a huge binary blob that you can't monitor, and runs multiple system components that it shouldn't. There was a lot of flak when systemd came online because old timers who were opposed to the overreaching and non-transparent natuer of the process were being removed from groups.

Little life story from me, take it for what you will:

I was eating hamburgers at a local grill with my young son yesterday. We were sitting outside, watching traffic go by, and he asked "When can we ride a bus again?"

We typically don't use public transportation because it is just too inefficient. We do sometimes use public transportation when visiting other cities or going on longer trips. The last time we took buses together was around two years ago in San Francisco.

The rides were fine. People were sad and quiet, as per usual on public transportation, and did not acknowledge each others' existences. We were all sitting on seats which faced inwardly, away from the windows. I was sitting sideways, with my son on my lap, so he could see out the window. I placed my hand on the back of the seat to shift my weight. I noticed something stuck between the back of the seat and the window track/frame which was roughly in the shape of a pen.

Being the person I am, if there is trash around I usually make myself pick it up to throw it away. So, I looked closer for a second to see what it was. The "pen" was a used needle. My son was by this time leaning on the back of the same seat inches from the tip of the needle. I quickly moved him across the bus to sit with the rest of the family and notified the bus driver.

I though used needles would be a rare thing to worry about. I didn't touch it because I didn't want to get accidentally stuck with the bus moving around. The driver, however, was apparently used to it. He let out a disgusted sound and, at the next stop, came back and threw the needle away in a separate trash can.

My family was disgusted. All I could think about is what human garbage would:

1) Use a needle in public; and 2) Leave a used needle in a public place, in a location where someone can easily accidentally stick themselves.

Since then I've learned that San Francisco gives out free needles and the situation is getting worse.

Edit: Extrawords

We're not all patriots. Stop putting us in boxes.

BTW I didn't mention what I was. Stop assuming my position if I don't state it.

Two lessons for you.

First off, I'm not upset or lying. Stupid I'll leave to others to evaluate.

I disagree that it is the government's job to teach people how to relate to eachother. I think the government should only provide mechanisms to enforce rules that citizens agree on (i.e. police), provide mechanisms for broader protection of the populace at large (military), and provide mechanisms for implementing services that citizens agree on (ideally limited, in my opinion to utility regulation, food safety, etc.).

I respect that the underlying philosophy of government is at play in this case with the officer who gets beaten up. The officer had a job to do that the civic population broadly agreed on. He wasn't abusing his authority (from what we can see) and he was attacked. He is a victim here.

If, as others have said, the British government is changing the terms of the officer's role into something not agreed to by the larger populace than the officials making those changes are first in breach of contract. If the officer then abuses the originally-agreed to authority he is in second breach of contract. But as I claim earlier, there is no evidence this officer was abusing the original authority. Thus, he was again a victim.
