For some reason I feel my wallet starting to get lighter. Whatever they come up with...will probably increase prices across the board.
In their minds It's probably time for another "revolution" like the last one from xbox/ps2 to 360/ps3...AKA games that used to be 59 are now 69 and consoles are now 799. Cool.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if consoles become modular, where in order to "upgrade" the console you just buy a new module and swap it with the old one.
That way as games become more advanced, the consoles can keep up with the pace without having to hype up "the next generation" all the time - instead they just sell parts that are able to run the new games.

N64 expansion pack...
Gamecube's loads of ports on the bottom...
Dreamcast modular addons...
Genesis SEGACD, 32X...
I could see this working.

We are absolutely headed towards fully downloaded games over a network like Live or PS Now, but I really hope we don't go full VR. I like to sit on the couch and just veg out playing games. I have no desire to jump around my living room while playing.
Bring on the PS5!
