"stupid fucks who are registered independent want to disrupt either the republican or democratic nomination process because they are too stupid to realize that they need to be registered with either party to vote in their primaries and are now suing because they are stupid fucks"

Closed primaries in a country where Independents make up the biggest group of citizens is a farcical democracy.

It's analogous to asking a kid if they want to brush their teeth with a red or blue toothbrush before they go to bed. They're still brushing their teeth, but with the illusion of choice.

3.2 million of them, making up 27% of the registered voters in the state? I was reading an article this morning which had interviews with NY voters who were registered as either Republican or Democrat, and had voted previously, but somehow their party affiliation was changed without their knowledge since last election.

From this article:

Westchester County voter Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez decided to check on the status of her voter registration last month, after hearing about problems in Arizona’s primary. She was dismayed to discover that, despite being a registered Democrat since 2008, her party affiliation had been changed to unaffiliated.

i mean if you would continue to read the fucking article you'd get your answer

Ocasio-Cortez was later told by her local Board of Elections that her party affiliation was changed during Hurricane Sandy. The devastating storm hit right before Election Day 2012, and in an emergency measure, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) allowed New York residents to vote at any precinct via affidavit ballot. Ocasio-Cortez was stuck in New York City for the storm, so she voted there instead of in Westchester.

“Apparently when I signed that affidavit my party affiliation was waived,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote. “I had no idea I was losing my party status when I did that… Had I known this was the case I would have fixed this ages ago.”

like i said before, they are stupid fucks.

They can't get their voting rights back, because they never lost them in the first place. The voters were unaffiliated, i.e., not registered to a political party like the Democrats or Republicans. They missed the deadline, or their paperwork was lost. Don't ascribe to malice that which can be explained by stupidity.

The deadline was last October. And a lot of people had their party affiliation changed inexplicably.

The deadline was last October.

And so they missed the deadline.

And a lot of people had their party affiliation changed inexplicably.

Their party affiliation was not changed, due to 1) missing the deadline; 2) registration not received; 3) voters themselves reverting back to unaffiliated after a previous election cycle.
