I don't know about proof, but it is definitely interesting. And I would tend to be skeptical of most things from the BBC... except Top Gear.
Maybe Teletubbies had a small part to play. I think it's more the years of mandatory schooling. Everyone taught the same way really encourages uniformity. I'm pretty sure public schools are possibly the biggest problem with kids growing up. Taught to immediately obey orders and do something "because it's better for you". Killing curiosity right off the bat, replacing it with a set of state minimums and biases.

You sound so young. And your voice sounds so flat(best way I can describe it).
I imagined a 8th grader talking about this and cringed. Maybe it's the resident evil movies in the back of my head.
