One size bigger than me (vanity-sizing non-withstanding.)

Survey says no.

I'm a size 6, and I don't have arms anywhere near that size

Was going to say that. I am a size 4-6 and my biceps are only 10" around.

I'm a guy who's 5'9 and 155 lbs who lifts four days a week. I don't have arms anywhere near that diameter.

It forgot to add a "1" in front of the "6", that stupid useless fat waste of oxygen.

I think it used a marker to cross out the 1 tbh.

Nah, it forgot to add the 'XL' after the 6.

I guess clinging to a specific number is why vanity sizing exists. Saying she's a certain size doesn't make her not fat. We can see her. What will an arbitrary number on a label prove?

No kidding. Especially if you take height into consideration.

They have changed the inches. I bought size 34 pants. Got home and measured them. They were about 38 inches. Returned them.

Sad news. There was an article not long ago talking about how "inches" in clothing are no longer real inches. Different brands inflate them to different degrees. I have old men's pants that I've compared to new ones in the same size, and the new ones are wider in the waist.

They have absolutely changed inches. I can't buy a 30 waist pair of pants anymore and have to drop to either 28 or 29 if I want a good fit.

Yet the arbitrary number on the scale doesn't mean anything to her

I wear a 4-6 in non-vanity sized stuff, and I'm her height and roughly 36lbs lighter.

She might mean six at somewhere like Old Navy though 😂

I'm two inches taller and 23 lbs lighter but we're the same size??

20 lbs is a lot!! Unless you're obese. Then it's lunch.

I was a size 6...Back in 1983. I am the same height and weight now as I was then, and I assure you : A garment marked 6 in 2016 would have been marked 10 at the very least, and quite possibly 12 or even 14 back in 1983. So it's quite possible that, thanks to vanity sizing, she's found one clothier in which she wears a size 6...But back in 1983, when to wear size 6 you could have a waist no bigger than 25.5" and hips no bigger than 35.5"-??? She wouldn't have begun to be able to squeeze into a 6!

Yes! I was asked to model some vintage dresses (40s and 50s some 60s) for a friend's clothing site, and I fit in anywhere from an 8 to a 12, depending on the cut of the dress/width of the shoulders (I have broad shoulders). I wear dress size 4, but pants I'm a 6 according to most of today's non-Old Navy super vanity sizes. I'm also at least an inch taller than Hammy and 25lbs. or so lighter.

Bullshit. I'm 5'3" and a size 4-6 depending on brand(vanity sizing, ugh), she's nowhere near my size. Funny thing though, I tried on a bunch of size 6 pants about a month ago and most of them were huge, because of fucking vanity sizing.

https://sli.mg/a/RXLehK

Those yellow pants are a 26, or 2 apparently at Banana Republic according to their size chart, which is total bs because there's no way in hell I'm a size 2.

I love those pants! And looks like you've got yourself nice, muscular legs, too!

ShAmy wishes she were your size.

Thanks! I actually just started seriously working out about a month ago, doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. I'm almost done the dvd and I'm really starting to see muscle definition now, especially in my quads. Shit actually works if you stick with it.
