Both. I have friends all along that spectrum (not many, just enough). Most of them are making babies.

I guessing that both you and most of these comments really thoroughly enjoyed Idiocracy.

I haven't seen that trend in the least, and I grew up in the rural south.

I have noticed that too, also the sheer amount of single mothers is disturbing.

I have one friend who is attractive and knocked up an attractive yet ditzy girl, he regrets it daily as he confided with me that he feels she is a bad mother and should have found someone else, she just told him that #2 is on the way and I legitimately think he want's to run to Mexico.

But yes, a lot of stupid people reproducing en masse basically and none of the smart and attractive people are.

Maybe I've noticed something that sort of resembles what you are describing. Generally speaking, the more affluent and/or educated people around me have made an informed decision to not have children or to have less. There just seems to be some types of people that do not take reproduction lightly. And of course religious leanings can greatly influence this.

Whenever someone asks me about friends, I think back on my old friends, but not friends now because I have no friends. I was always the guy who was just there. I wasn't important. I didn't matter in anyone's life that much. Just a tag along, so as I grew older, people just forgot about me. This is what happens when you grow up. People have a shedding where they cut out people who they don't think are important. I've never been important. I was just a goofy kid who was worth a few cheap laughs.

I really dislike the way you posted this question, but I have to say you are pretty spot on. Most of the "attractive" people I grew up with have done well in life, and are busy developing careers, finishing school, and figuring out their lives. Not many that I can think of are having kids yet, and we are all right around 30. Most of the nasties I grew up with, however, are still back home, some of them working on their 3rd/4th/5th kids. This is not all inclusive, but a quick scroll through my FB feed backs up the idea pretty well.
I have to think education and initial social position play a big part in this. Most of the rich kids could afford braces, played sports to stay in shape, went to good doctors, went to good colleges, and on average came out looking fairly decent. A lot of the poor kids didn't get the best medical care, grew up valuing work instead of school (which is not always a terrible thing), and just generally take shittier care of themselves. I don't know why I make the direct connection to education & child birth, but my personal experience has been that the dumber you are the more likely you are to have children. Reminds me of the opening scene in Idiocracy.

im pretty sure genetics has more to do with it than social status. why dont people like to just admit that genetics is what it is? why has the genetics explanation become a no no? why is it so hard for people to accept that they 'intrinsically are' something, and that there are people who 'intrinsically are' better and worse than them. i know this is a hard concept for the egotistical, special-snowflake society to swallow, but its reality.

economics does not explain these things, here is why. there are rich areas and there are areas of pretty much strict middle class socioeconomic status. in these areas, the kids all attend schools together and they are pretty close to on a level economic playing field. the same rules still apply. cream rises. its the simple fact. thats how genetics works. and btw, poor kids can work out and be active too, lol. in fact, i grew up pretty poor and had much to more time to just spend out riding my bike around and being active and getting into various sorts of trouble because people in our extremely blue collar area didnt care too much about pushing us to be geniuses and presidents like the rich kids parents were, nor were they pushing through all of this extra-curricular bullshit. it just was not part of the culture.

the problem is that society has changed and now the weak and stupid are allowed to survive. they are no longer culled by natural order. so they grow old and breed. the future generations will be full of weak, infirmed rejects that never should have made it passed the first week of life.

also, i am not a tactful person so im sorry if you dont like the way i say things. im a 'bad' person frankly. but the truth is the truth.

If this whole thread is a lead-up to a lecture on eugenics, why not just cut the foreplay and get on with it?

Norwegian here, haven't seen any correlation between attractiveness and reproduction where I live. Now that I think about it, most of the couples stick together, and seem both happy and secure in their relationships.

But everyone is Norway is good looking and attractive. You can't count your country!

This is one of the maddest things I've read in a while, so thanks for that.

Can't say that I have noticed. I only have one obese friend and she had her tubes tied years ago. The rest of my friends are mostly normal-weighted with a couple chubbies, but not obese in the mix and they're all mostly average-looking with a handful of above-averages thrown in. I am not friends with anyone who is 'literally retarded'.

The friends I have who have children are all average-looking, I guess. One of my really beautiful friends has a baby and her husband is unattractive (in my opinion) but not sick or overweight.
