Here is the homepage ( just something I came across in google, I don't really have an opinion one way or another at this time) , I would be interested in your thoughts.
Thats an example of a website I would absolutely trust.
There were multiple attempts to censor the Talmud, mostly from Christian theologians, and they had great success. Few sources are older than the printing press, and they largely exist in bits and pieces. The oldest printing of a full Gemara I know of is the Bromberg Shas.
Today, the Vilna edition is almost universally used, even though it is known to have been censored by the Christians. There is another printing thats slightly amended from the Vilna edition, and its the Oz Vehadar edition. They didn't change any of the misprintings or spelling errors in the Vilna because no one today feels they have the authority to do so, but they improved the indexing.
As to the Soncino, they're hard to find. Moznaim does the printing, and they're an Israeli company so they have no understanding of customer service. They are only interested in selling full sets, and wont even include minor tractates. I bought a different book set from them called Me'am Loez, and a few books were lost when I was moving. I have no way of replacing them. If you want to see the inside of a real Talmud, a large library might have an Artscroll Gemara in it. It has the most authoritative English translation that exists. They're still in print, and you can find them with an ISBN search.

It sounds about right. FWIW, I have trouble with the Aramaic too, so I rely on prerecorded speeches.
