I'd probably go way, way back, to ancient Greece. I'd just lay low. Maybe make a little, but comfortable bit of money with my modern knowledge of botany and horticulture.

Most people lack the means to go back more than a hundred years or so as they would instantly be recognized as different due to language differences. Most would likely be killed soon after arrival as the locals (of that time) would think they where demons/witches/etc. If you traveled back before Humans then you would have to contend with extremely large and vicious predators. So there are only a few very small possible windows you could (relatively) safely travel back to and live out a normal life.
Scenario #1: Your life (or shortly before) - You could relatively safely travel back to any point in your lifetime or a few decades before you where born.....But you could never see yourself, family, friends, etc. or you might wipe yourself from ever existing. Furthermore, if you went back to before you where born you could also change something that wipes you from ever existing. So be careful here.
Scenario #2: Find a time where there where no dinosaurs or humans or any other bipedal hominids that existed before modern humans. Even if you went back to the days of Cavemen, Denisovans, etc. your presence could change the course of history by preventing modern humans to develop and therefore wiping you from existence. You would need to make sure you where dead and all traces of you wouldn't be found until after you traveled back in time to be safe.
Scenario #3: Don't go, send technology instead - Any human travel into the past is extremely dangerous for the person traveling and the rest of humanity. However, if you developed drones that recorded video/audio on optical media (think Blu-Ray) that where designed to look like normal objects in whatever time you sent them back to you could change the future. Blu-Ray has a storage life of 1 million years (in theory) So if you built a drone, programmed to go to a certain spot and stay there and record for X amount of time then place the storage media into a lead case and shut down. You could then go to that location in modern times, recover the media and have a record of our past that no one else has. You could send millions of these drones back to all points in Earth's history and record everything that has happened on Earth from the birth of our planet to today. You then place all of that audio/video in a searchable database on the web and charge people to view any time or place in history. Almost instantly you are the richest person to ever live and you can put together the smartest people on Earth and have unlimited funding for their research. Thereby changing (or accelerating) the future.

Go back in time an hour and fuck myself.
You're all thinking it. Or at least, you are now.

Or when and where would you go, I should say.
