I always thought it didn't matter much either. I mean it's great to speak more than one language. I love languages. Some people can listen to a totally different language and pick up words here and there. But yeah, it's not really gonna help you in the long run. One language will get you farther in knowledge. It's like that theory about how music makes you smarter. No. It's some BS that educators love to push. Just like your first 5 years your brain does the majority of learning. No. I don't remember shit from the first 5 years.

While my experience is anecdotal, I did notice that Mexican kids in California schools being pushed through bilingual education ended up being illiterate in both English and Spanish. Millions of dollars wasted in wistful thinking.
