categorically can mean several things:
the cruz family have an open relationship they were on break mrs cruz likes to watch mrs cruz is gay and ted is her beard it was anal, oral, or a handjob-- not proper vaginal sex
for all we know she could be using the dieter's guide to cheating; it doesn't count if you're standing over the sink.

cat·e·gor·i·cal (kăt′ĭ-gôr′ĭ-kəl, -gŏr′-) also cat·e·gor·ic (-ĭk) adj. 1. Being without exception or qualification; absolute: a categorical refusal.
So it basically means "in no way or part is any aspect of it true". Crooked politicians tend to over rely on the term to suggest that they're wholly innocent and tell only the absolute truth. Whenever you hear one use the term you know they're categorically full of shit.

What categorical means in philosophy, that is a class of thing containing specific characteristics. Hence, a common argument against the inherent absurdity of god (Can god lift a rock god cannot lift) is a categorical error because inconsistencies aren't part of the characteristics that make up the category of 'god'' and the statement represents a misunderstanding of what god is and isn't.

So in this case, one could argue if the Cruz's have an open relationship, cheating is catagorically impossible. Or if the marriage was suspended, cheating is catagorially impossible <for reasons>. And if Heidi likes to watch, or it's a threesome, one can't 'cheat' since, again, the catagory of 'cheating', properly understood, would exclude threesomes and participation of all parties, with consent. etc.
When I hear modifying words, I assume scum.

I'm not sure she actually denied it. Did she?

She said "tabloid trash, categorically false, you can talk to my lawyer". Anything is possible here, note the emotional and subtle but defensive reaction.

Well with accusations like these, you never do, because when you're eventually found out, people will say you lied. So if you don't deny it, you technically never lied.
This is cheater logic. It stands in position 3 of "flawed logics", under religion logic and SJW logic (encapsulation of feminist logic, fat logic and anti-racism logic).

The story has already become "who spilled the beans?"

Ha! Of course a Trump supporter considers the National Enquirer a reliable source of information.
"Ooh elvis was spotted in Dollywood. Maybe he can do a song at Mister Trumps next rally."

Okay John Edwards.
