If they do this, there will be massive upheaval.
You think all those hundreds of thousands of people that attended Trump rallies will just let that slide?
This country will be massively divided.

Why don't the Pubs just nominate $hillary and get it over with?

It becomes a moot point if the Donald gets the threshold number of delegates, or close enough.
I do not see Cruz doing well in the more heavily populated states, especially after recent events. Its not even Easter Sunday or Passover yet, so more Muslim shenanigans are to come.

Except this is all still binding contracts and agreed upon rules. First there was worry about the 6 states, which he passed and now they decided to make it not a rule because it would have benefited him. The republican party has made it clear every step of the way that they aren't interested in the people's candidate.
Who's to say the establishment won't throw the nomination to someone else and declare the delegate system bankrupt? I honestly think they would flip the table and force a third party run out of Trump, all but handing the white house to Hillary rather than risk ratifying his platform and giving him a shot at upsetting their chosen candidate. He's not entirely under their thumb, therefor they don't want him anywhere near real power.

That is if the republican base will still support them.
IF they pull shenanigans like this, they may lose a lot of their base. Its not just the presidential elections at stake, its also seats in congress. betraying the main voters, might cause other collateral damage as well.
Flipping over the table, may destroy them, and it does not guarantee Clinton the white house. Remember, she was guaranteed the Whitehorse in 2008, and that did not work out so well for her.

If Trump has to run as an independent because the RNC is screwing him, this will lead to vote splitting and the Republicans will lose the election. Seems like the RNC will cut off its nose to spite its face.

Going against the will of the people is treason.

They are just going to fuck themselves. If Trump is forced to run 3rd party, the Democrats will definitely win. Then again, the Neocons love Clinton, so I'm sure that's what they would prefer.
