The nozzles are a breeding ground for mold. A hundred years ago when I worked at a theater I saw the most disgusting nozzles. If you take them off you can see this nasty old syrup crust and mold loves to eat that sugar goo. And the upper area where the nozzles attach is never cleaned either.

Gross huh? I am glad the places I have worked cleaned out the ice machine once a week. Take out all the ice you can. Pour boiling hot water all over the sides and bottom, wait to drain and wipe down.

If it makes you feel better, some places do actually care. When I was working fast food in high school, every night we would clean out the nozzles by letting them soak overnight in a solution. Then we would clean the machine the best we could.

Water nozzle usually dispenses something like tea. Tea isn't carbonated so it's just plumbed for water. The water tab dispenses just the water without the syrup.
