As far as I'm concerned, there's not a single politician in DC who deserves a fucking raise, least of all Obummer.
Of course, they'll probably get it anyways.

I feel like it's ok for the leader of our country to make at least as much money as a mid level executive of a Fortune 500 company. Paying the President well is also an important part of preventing corruption. We don't want them to think they have to accept bribes in order to live comfortably.

Honest question here. What does the president have to spend money on? I'm talking while president not after. They have a plane to travel, a house to live in, people to prepare everything as part of the house staff, a vacation home available and staffed as well, security is provided. clothing for them and family is the only thing I can come up with and that is probably provided for him if not companies would be falling over each other to provide their wardrobe and able to say "good enough for the president, good enough for you" in their ads.
Edit: Just did a little checking and their spouse gets $20,000 a year if they don't already have something or choose to give up the other option. So if Hillary got elected how would things work in that house would they each get the main pension (dumb to give up 200k for 20k) as well as nearly 100k for staff so the household would get 200k? add in they get security but wouldn't the first tip for security be to separate them from other high-value targets except for visits. the amount of oddities that would come up with having both be former presidents would be unique. plus could set a precedent of presidents grooming their spouse while in office so they as a couple could hold power for 16 years instead of the limit of 8.

I remember reading that Presidents pay for the food their families eat while in the White House. An exception is made for when they host state dinners and the like. That food is paid for by the government as it is considered part of the job.
Other than that I think everything is free for POTUS.

Did you guys forget that Bush doubled the presidential salary? 200K for Clinton, 400k for Bush.
That being said, we need to lower this if anything. Here's how the POTUS salary stacks up to other world leaders.

Not to mention all the shit they stole from the WH when leaving before Bush.

yup, this country has evolved into nothing more than a pyramid scheme. Most of our politicians (at every level, even local/state) are corrupt and their only interest is how to get the most money possible. Our parents gave up our voice in the 80s in favor of the wealthy, now we have none but we still sing land of the free every single day.
