Ahhh. I was immediately wondering how this could possibly be given that at this point it's basically an open secret that Google looking towards being the first company to develop a 'sentient' android. It turns out that the flagship of Boston Dynamics, the Atlas Robot, is no longer part of Boston Dynamics but instead has been merged into their X Labs group. Hopefully we'll continue getting those video updates. X Labs is probably Google's most secretive group, but it's been amazing seeing Atlas' steady progress.
That is interesting news; I appreciate the context! Google does have a habit of stripping the useful parts out of a company and then selling the rest; I believe they did the same thing with Motorola's project ara.
They absorbed the brains of the operation, took the project, and are now expelling the husk. They're hoping to make a little bit of money off the sale since people remember the name Boston Dynamics.
