It wasn't part of the curriculum, but I did take an elective called Food & Nutrition in high school. We didn't cover CICO once, all we did was bake sweets. However, our teacher did make us take our measurements in class and i'll never forget how much the hams sulked.
Yes. In Biology, they taught it simply (i.e. an animal needs to consume calories in order to function. No hard math behind it since we haven't learned thermodynamics yet). In Chemistry, they went a little more into it teaching the basic thermo (1kcal heats up 1kg of water 1deg C). In AP physics, they taught us basic thermodynamics so it seemed pretty obvious. In college, it was a mixed bag. Since science wasn't a requirement for some majors, you had some kids who knew thermodynamics and some kids who looked at me like I was speaking another language.

Yeah, in biology and PE. Pretty basic shit nowadays. The U.K. Government is aware of the "obesity crisis" as they put it and healthy eating is legally required to be taught in schools over here now. Probs because, due to the NHS, the taxpayer is paying a ridiculous amount to try and keep them alive. Like for the last economic year we spent £5.1 billion on obesity related treatments.

Basic nutrition should be taught in every high school and middle school. It's much more applicable than a lot of the stuff they teach.

I had a serious eating disorder in high school. It pisses me off when people try to shield themselves or their kids from calorie info because "EATING DISORDURZ" when 2/3 of people in the US are fat and only 4% have an ED. Knowledge doesn't give you an eating disorder; circumstances/predisposition/Satan do. I was not educated on CICO but still figured out how to starve myself just fine. Ridiculous.

I got an A in physics. Does that count?
