You know, it crosses my mind that there could be quite a demand for a GG sympathetic convention, one that refuses to censor these sorts of things, heck maybe even goes out of it's way to try to get ahold of some Pro-GG figures to appear to help spread the word. Anti-GG panels could be setup though given the intended audience of the convention, such panels probably wouldn't do so well so given a space to probably better accommodate what the harassment seminar or whatever at SXSW got.

But if something like that were to be planned, it would REQUIRE that whoever set it up have a backup venue for when the inevitable bomb threat got sent, they should be open with their social media (maybe even put it on the bands or whatever they give at the entrance) as to make it easy for attendees to get updates, maybe even make it so that people who sign up online can give their email address or some other contact information so that they can be informed directly about the venue change if and when it happens. Having at least a second backup would also be a good idea for if say the fire alarm gets pulled at the secondary location, but not quite as necessary as long as the location of the backup is not made public until it is needed.

Just a thought, but could potentially be profitable by the looks of how much trouble is had with all these various cons and the general demand for these sorts of pro-GG panels/booths.

Absolutely. I'd go to it, and I don't ever go to conventions.

Thanks, I thought that I remembered hearing a story about that before but I couldn't be sure, even if it were to be attempted again I forgot to take into consideration that you're probably going to have to go through all backups before the con even happens as the last one I believe had to use it's third venue for the actual con because the first one got called ahead of time to be told that it was a bunch of harassers or whatever bullshit they told them, so the venue cancelled, and I think the second choice wasn't big enough or had some fire code issues? Resulting in them having to use the third option, but because of that it made the bomb threat that later came much more difficult to deal with since there wasn't a venue willing to take them that would work.... But that's just if I'm remembering correctly.

This would complicate matters, as one would have to try to confirm at least with the primary venue in advance that even though the con will be called a bunch of harassers or such that won't be a problem for the venue, which would drastically limit options, backup venues might not necessarily need to be confirmed especially since they won't be mentioned in the public until they're already being used, but I imagine new conventions can already have some issues with venues, so trying to have multiple options (especially since the price-tag on booking more than one in advance could become a problem) would become all the more difficult....

Taking this into consideration I think that we're probably a year or two off from being able to have a non-established convention being able to go into this sorta market, need to pull the curtain behind on the 'GG' vs 'Anti-GG' market some more to be able to take better advantage of say groups that help people start up conventions or regular convention venues or whatnot to see where the money is and hopefully come to the conclusion that one isn't a group of evil terrorists out to kill our womynz and steal our children or whatever.

He addressed that. Book a second venue secretly and then move the convention when they make them.

Archive. Ralph is below Gawker-tier but this story is correct, as he just copy-pastes some primary sources.

Remember: "rules for thee but not for me"

People who say violence against these people isn't the answer haven't been paying the fuck attention as to what's been going on in the past several years.

I like this guy.
