By that logic the government has the right to imprison and torture you for it and label it a "consequence"
No, that logic does not follow. There is a difference between the government and people. One has the right to imprison you, the other does not. You are free to call someone a jerk, but you have no right to avoid any returned insults. Don't make a strawman from that.
A tiny amount of people pretended to be outraged over a private position that was in no way associated with Mozilla and fired a guy the majority supported or didn't care about
You have obviously done very little research on this issue. The gay community is VERY vocal about this type of thing, and I personally know 4 people who switched browsers over this issue. GLBT people make up somewhere around 3% of the population, and it does not make financial sense to alienate 3% of your customer base.
Imagine if a CEO of a company was a Klansman, or was a neo-nazi. Should the board of directors be able to fire that person for that reason? Many black people, or jewish people, or people who don't hate either group may not buy their products knowing that their purchase will be giving money to the CEO indirectly. The board should have the right to say "You are reflecting poorly on our company" and then fire them.
Except now in the real world you are forever tainted as homophobe/transphobe/literally Hitler any time someone searches your name on google before hiring you.
Then maybe you shouldn't support those groups, or maybe you should start a company yourself, or change jobs.
The end result is exactly the same as making free speech illegal
No it's not. The difference is arrest vs freedom. The government can arrest you, people cannot. Free speech cannot give you a criminal record.
all it takes is one person to snitch on having seen the McDonalds trainee at a Trump railly
The McDonalds would risk pissing off all the Trump supporters and loosing that business.
The end result is that you can never utter a personal opinion deemed "controversial" or "politically incorrect" if you want to hold down a job, which is the foundation for every aspect of a normal life
Then keep your views private, or in close confidence. If you are worried about how the public will recieve your views, don't yell them, or make them publically known. If you really have to (i.e. to change other's political opinion) then prepare for the consequences.
Sure, it sucks but by making everything a protected class, you are effectively revoking the freedoms of other people to support the messages they want.
Of course judging by your politically correct shilling
Leave personal insults somewhere else. Keep discussion to facts and not personal attacks.
