What is reddit going to do on that day? Maybe we should all point out their past flaws, get those censored, then show the irony.

Given recent trends over there I'd be very surprised if they do anything at all, they have to know they would get hammered as has happened in pretty much every admin announcement since the apaocalypse.

Hey, it's fun to point and laugh. I'll care as long as it's interesting or amusing for me to care.

Atko on censorship:

As far as censorship goes - at first I thought I would censor things like racism. After a lot of consideration, this hit me - if racism is perfectly legal - why the hell should I be the one to censor it? I lost a dear friend because I refused to censor things on voat. As long as content is legal in Switzerland (which is where voat will be based if things work out the way I hope they do), we will not meddle. I am not going to play moral police just because someones feelings are hurt.

It is fantastic that we have a site where can speak our minds, but it's important to note that Voat isn't a free speech platform. Censorship still exists on Voat, but the power to censor rests with the users, rather than just moderators and site admins.

That's true in a sense but accounts like Amalek are proof no one can be silenced entirely and the site provides means for people to create subs with restricted downvoats and anonymity as well to bypass even the users ability to censor.

True, but most people aren't as, uh, persistent as Amalek. By that same argument (that one can just keep creating hundreds of accounts), no one can be silenced entirely on Reddit, either.

If a user posts in a forest, and no one's around to read it, does he make a post? Lets not be Reddit. Users with unpopular opinions shouldn't have to post in "free speech zones."
