Yes.
We built it.

I guess you're one of these silly racists that missed all of the Mexicans and Muslims who signed the Declaration of Independence.

You can shove that fucking race card right up your arse.
White men built this fucking place. We kill a bunch of natives, fought off the frogs and the Spanish, brought over a surprisingly small number of slaves, and fucking got to work.
Blacks, Mexicans, and a bunch of other races, religions and nationalities helped with both the good and the mind numbingly evil. My point is that the White Male Devil (WMD henceforth) provided the vision, resources and funds to develop what was essentially a big ass forest into something productive. Did we do some wicked shit in the process? Ah-yup. The one that always sticks in my mind is the exploration of chinks with the Intercontinental Railroad.
My point - you asked if it was a WMD's country. It is. Just like it's a Black Mans, Jewish Mans, Muslim Mans, Asian, Hispanic, Male, Female, fucking silly ass otherkins, and anyone else who wants to show up (legally) and be fucking productive. I don't give two fucking shits where you are from, what color your skin is, or what dangles (or you perceive dangles) between your fucking legs. This is America, god damnit, and we will take your tired, we will take your poor, and we will fucking take your huddle masses, and we will give them the motherfucking opportunity to make something of themselves.
We will not give them handouts. We will not provide for them. We will give them a fucking chance, as long as they get here with approval and are not yowling fuckheads.
Now you take your race-baiting slated-view horse shit and fuck right off.

While your women were prevented from having a salary by federal law. The way things were isn't the way things are any more. Yes, it's still a white man's country, and it's also for white women and peaceful people of all races by its current design.
[–] Joe_McCarthy [S] 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
That 'current design' is a post-Civil War but mostly a post-Civil Rights era construct. It's possible massive counter-revolution is brewing as white men reacquaint themselves with our old ways. We'll see. But with the Trump era it is possible we're on the cusp of radical change.

People don't fucking understand this for some reason. Who administers this county? Who keeps it on the rails? White dudes.
I'm not talking about politicians. I'm talking about government workers. I do it because it represents something I believe in. I sure as shit don't do it for the money.

Yes it was. The system of governance (The Constitution) and principles that guided policy came from white men. The technological innovations that made this country great came from white men. The uninhabited land was colonized and made fruitful by white people. Resources were extracted, crops were cultivated, and they were all made available to the markets. The contributions of other races to America are marginal. America is great because if white men. We should respect and honor this fact.

America is any man's country.

Don't have a dog in this fight. But a flyer from 1868 isn't enough evidence to support your argument.
[–] Joe_McCarthy [S] 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago (edited ago)
What I posted was campaign propaganda appealing to the sentiments of white voters in the face of the revolutionary racial policies of Radical Republicans. Seymour actually got a majority of the white vote for POTUS in 1868 - and even with some Southern states still being out of the Union and being unable to vote along with many former Confederates that were disenfranchised in Southern states that were in the Union. Before the Civil War asking this question was virtually akin to asking whether water is wet. The only arguable question now is whether America is a white man's country in 2016.
