I just finished this book last week.

The writing is good, the setting is pretty unique, and the characters are fleshed-out well.

I didn't like the ending, but other people might like it.

Picked these up at random in a library and thought they were excellent.

Shared them with my father who claims to love sci fi but is actually just a die hard asimov fan.

I am sort of not really a big Kim Robinson fan. By all accounts, I should have loved the Mars series, but I had a real hard time with it. I have them all and I have made several runs at it, but I have never gotten through the second book. There was something about the cadence of those books that really tripped me up and I was always wondering what I missed and what is going on, especially when the POV's changed.

I fully expect to be somewhat befuddled when first starting a book, trying to figure out what is going on, Who people are etc, but in these books, I never really left that state. I fully expect there to be some mixing up of things in a multi-generational epic type series, but they just weren't...I dunno...cohesive?

I am a bit hesitant to attempt another book by Robinson. The Mars series never really captured me.

How does it compare to the Mars series? Here is the thing, I wanted to like the mars series, but I could not connect with it in any way. There was something about his writing style or maybe even the way he structured the novel that wasn't working for me.

Is this one structured in the same way? With the extended POV's?

I have the Audio books as well as print. I've not been able to finish either. I really want to like them, as I love that type of Sci-Fi, but I just cant connect with them.
