I remember a scene from a William Gibson novel IIRC where the character needs to make a call but doesn't have a phone on hand, so they buy a box of cereal that comes with a free cellphone made of cardboard.

If a computer like this costs only $9 today, how long until it costs 90 cents? These things are getting so cheap that even the poorest of people in the poorest of countries will be able to have their own. As for electricity, Fusion power might be able to the same. Humanity is truly amazing.

On another note, cheap good computers might present a good opportunity to spread Linux, since you don't have to convince people to dual-boot, just gift them one with it pre-installed. You even get to pick hardware with good open drivers and such.
