Aside from reasons mentioned in the article, for dollar denominated assets, they couldn't possibly be selling off foreign reserves when the dollar is strong and real estate is still high, could they? ;-) Who wanted so much of their faith, credit, and investments with the US anyway?

Countries that are oil rich have been selling off the assets that they purchased in the US since OPEC reduced the cost of oil drastically. This is in contrast to how much they usually invest in our economy, when oil prices are high. Sort of a double-whammy to our economy.
