I think the CFT was after my time. When I was in, the only differences between male and female requirements were the flexed arm hang vs pull up and the speed requirements for the run. Everything else, from the rappel tower to swimming to written tests to the confidence course to the Crucible, was otherwise the same. During MCT, we were gender mixed so we all had the same requirements, from picking up other Marines and running with them to the humps and night courses.
All the females I knew, myself included, wanted them to change the standards to make them 100% equal with the male standards because we were tired of hearing that we "had it easy" just because those two things were a little different. I could do pull-ups, I had no problem taking a pull-up test instead of a flexed arm hang. It takes more work for a female to accomplish a pull-up, that's for sure, but it's definitely not impossible to bust out 150 push-ups or 20 pull-ups like some dudes think it is for women. People keep saying, "Well, the average woman isn't as good as the average man" and I say the Marine Corps isn't looking for "average".
