They've only had 10 years or more to work this out!

Give them a break!

So basically the game ripped off Tales of Symphonia in that department?

I remember running Disgaea on a PS2 emulator on my PC oh... a decade ago maybe?

It worked flawlessly.

This is the new Disgaea 5. Also, it's no secret that Japanese companies are clueless when it comes to programming for PC.

This is starting to look a lot like a case of "everybody is talking but nobody is listening." It would appear very possible that the performance issues people are having (to include the odd display issues) are related to the game defaulting to integrated graphics instead of using dedicated GPUs the way you might expect. Certainly frustrating, but not to the extent people are nattering about it and not a difficult fix.

My empathy for controller complaints dissolved when the first detailed "review" I read contained a full paragraph early on complaining that they had to move the mouse cursor off the screen because they were using a controller and it bothered. Again, frustrating to an extent, demonstrative of a lack of polish, and totally not worth a bitchy paragraph all on its own.

So if you've got the game and your graphics and performance issues are ruining it for you, check to see if the game is using your GPU or if it's using integrated graphics. That one little trick could well solve all of your performance problems.
