You don't need to have all view points presented at all times. For fucks sake, have some backbone, have the ability to defend your beliefs in your own mind if nothing else. Be able to accept information and defend yourself or be willing to change your mind.
This is fucking college!
And of course the rules don't apply to liberals, how surprising.

Education these days is more about teaching kids what to think, not how to think. These kids have gone their whole lives being told to shut up, listen, and not to question. Allowing someone to come in with a viewpoint that differs from the one they have hammered into those kids, and speak to them in a similar format to the one used for indoctrination, might actually get those kids thinking for themselves. Which is why that can't be allowed to happen.

After careful consideration, I have decided that it will be best for our campus community if we reschedule Ben Shapiro’s appearance for a later date, so that we can arrange for him to appear as part of a group of speakers with differing viewpoints on diversity.
Students who planned on attending were later "enrolled" into "freedom camps" to be edudoctrinated to the "more diverse" viewpoints of the students and faculty who didn't want to hear someone who disagrees with them. The disagreeable opinions can then be separated and expunged to provide the students the framework to make correct opinions, rather than leaving them to inform themselves and form their own, incorrect opinions.

What the university president means is free exchange of liberal ideas only.

I like that they are fighting back. They still plan to hold the speech, and are willing to take legal action if they are denied equal access.
I'm popping some popcorn, this is gonna be good.

This is a good point and universities should strive to have events like this.
This is also a good point - what's good for one group is good for all groups. Equality, and all that.

So Now anytime someone wants to speak, we have to find someone with an opposing viewpoint? What if I want to talk about how pedophilia is bad, we have to find an opposing speaker now?
On the flip side, what if I want to talk about something that is very controversial, and people on the other side of the isle refuse to speak about their point of view simply to prevent me from speaking?
This is bad policy for free speech.

Maybe not how pedophilia is good, but someone who specializes in the treatment of pedophilia, deals with criminals who have undergone therapy to understand why they felt it was acceptable and the need to act on their impulses would be welcome. Not someone making pedophilia out as 'good' but someone trying to put the disease in perspective from the perpetrators viewpoint could be seen as an opposing viewpoint. Because you said you just wanted to talk about how it is bad, right?
Pedophilia is a little extreme compared the topics the article is talking about. These are the kind of topics that should have opposing viewpoints because there is not an overwhelming amount of support for one side like there would be with your pedophilia example. No one wants kids hurt - not everyone thinks whitey is the root of all evil and the way to solve it is to racially segregate the masses. This is the kind of stuff that should have truly opposing viewpoints uniting to converse in an open forum.
If they are going to do this kind of thing, they should do it for everyone. It'll be a real shit fest and no one will want to go speak at the college. Problem solved.
