Read the article. He invited the cops into his house after he admitted to beating his brother up, who they found walking down the street earlier bloody, they saw pot in his house and blood and found a locked door that he refused to open.

This is just clickbait. Nothing is changed with respect to searches and seizures. Please try to understand probable cause.

Yeah they were doing this going after the governor there, then they used John doe laws to keep the victims from talking to their lawyers.

And he did not have to open it. They did not have a warrant to search the premises.

I don't like this but this article is kind of inflammatory.

After admitting that he had been in a fight with his brother, who the officers found bloodied in a nearby residence, Matalonis allowed the cops to come into his home. They saw blood, presumably from the fight, and cannabis before asking Matalonis to open a locked door in the house for them. After he refused, the cops broke the door down and found marijuana growing in the room.

A crime was committed with an injured party confirmed. The guy then talked to the police (NEVER TALK TO THE POLICE) after bloodying his brother up. Then he allowed them to come into the the house (DO NOT CONSENT TO SEARCH). They find blood inside and a locked door which could be hiding another victim. Then they find his grow-op.

This has nothing to do with the 4th amendment. This guy is giant idiot. Ever hear "only break one law at a time"? This is why. A stupid family altercation caused this guy to become a felon.

  • DO NOT TALK TO POLICE
  • DO NOT TALK TO POLICE
  • DO NOT CONSENT TO SEARCH
  • ASK IF YOU ARE FREE TO GO
  • ASK FOR A LAWYER

If he would have done that he might have gotten the evidence thrown out.
