Most definitely, they were pretty clued in to the world. Probably more so than the average person today to be honest. That thing that I linked a picture of above, Newgrange, actually pre-dates the Egyptian pyramids and was built in such a way that the sun would shine directly in through a little hole above the entrance on winter solstice, so they were well aware of the movements of the sun, stars, etc. It's pretty cool that they undertook these big projects back then when you think about it.
