I think all unclaimed domains should be shuffled into another god's if their existing domain is closely related. Like mine and misfortune. However, if the unclaimed has no close relations, a new player should be able to claim it.
How about a swirling 'leftovers' pot where people can look over the specs of unclaimed stuff and petition to claim it? Maybe have a person(s) in charge of the 'Unwanted Realm' and when someone wants to claim something, they can right a blurb for it, maybe continue on or expand on something they think they want (something to show they can handle it) and the person(s) can either decide or put to a vote if that unwanted thing can be released back into existence?
Or not. I don't know. This whole sub has been fascinating to read but I'm still a little unsure how to claim stuff/create stuff.

If you want to claim a god, you are only as confused as we are. If you want to claim a race or an individual make a post saying you assume direct control and it just happens. I'm glad you find the sub interesting, if you wish to join that is your choice, or you can keep reading, it's all good either way.
The thing is if you see our current pool of domains, its got a lot of overlap, and some weirdness too.
We definitely appreciate your output, and we will take it into consideration.
I would think the overlap was on purpose, you know, like that Black & White gods game where proximity creates God-tensions. That's why I would be worried about claiming a God - I fear I would pick fights just to make things interesting and claim more followers. But I think i would be just as big a pain in the ass if I claimed a race. Mm. I think I should just watch.

I vote 'definitely not roll all unclaimed domains into another god's.' We don't need every domain to be active. Far from it. There are a million potential domains that don't have a god, and that's fine. I think any domain that no one's using should be used by no one.
Just because we ever had a god of it doesn't mean we need a god of it. Other gods can safely interact with domains no one's in charge of, just like there's no domain of 'beams' and gods can shoot beams, no domain of 'lightning' so gods can shoot lightning, etc.
I think we should have an idea of roughly how many gods we want to have in the game at any given time, and any time we fall under that amount, let people either reclaim old gods (need some metric for declaring a god 'definitely dead, no one's playing this') or start new ones, as per previous rules - no domains that are already claimed, no more than three-ish domains, otherwise, go nuts.
