Except it really is that simple. Even if tomorrow we were thrown into anarchy, all we have to do is look to what happened after Katrina to see how we'd react.

Lots of cops went rogue and looted/murdered as they pleased. Gangs did the same. The national guard came in and restored order and life went on. That huge swath of the population you say would rise up and fight back? They are lining up at shelters trying to get a meal and a good nights sleep. Meanwhile anyone out on the streets is living in the Wild West

Not sure if you saw the rolling army of militarized police back during the ferguson riots, but what exactly is your plan to "stand up" to that?

Easy. You go after their families. Cops live in the communities they work in. How long do you think the police force will stay on the side of government when Johnny Law comes home to find his family's entrails strewn about his living room?

Oh right. Suddenly everyone will have the stomach to butcher a cop's innocent family.

Just like in ferguson where all the law abiding citizens hunkered down waiting for things to blow over?

You're thinking that there is gonna be a single event that causes all of the law abiding population to rise up against the police? I disagree. What we're seeing is a slow and steady build up. This will take generations and tomorrow's pussies will be so used to injustice it won't even matter.

I think one event could spark it, but unless there is any sort of organized opposition government that states or regions decide to follow instead then the revolt would devolve into disorganized chaos. In that case then waging a rebellion using rules and conventional methods won't be able to take the gov't down, you'd have to resort to tactics like killing families of cops in order to not yourself be killed. I'm not saying it's pretty or that I'd even want that, but that may be the only choice effective enough to get change. They'll keep pushing people until that's the only choice.

There are 101 legal firearms per 100 persons in the US.

If you know anything about the history of warfare, you'd realize that 800k cops, no matter how well armed, will not win against a rebel force that well armed.

Even poorly armed guerilla forces are nearly impossible to deal with.

800k cops? What about the national guard? Army reserves, Army/navy/Air Force/marines?

Pretty sure once cops lose control of their city, shock troops would be deployed to restore order. Once things get bad enough it's just a quick flyby from an F-16 (or drone) to clean up stragglers.

How many anti-aircraft surface to air missiles you got per 100 citizens?

There is simply no way for us to hope to win a fight if the military turns on the citizens.

Edit* if you want proof of this, take a look at some of the infrared bombing runs in Afghanistan and have fun trying to hide your heat signature from a 30million dollar drone
