I loved the game. Used to play it exclusively. Never paid attention enough to the "story" I guess. I tried to start playing it again a few months back. It felt played out, for me personally. Ya know?
Still a great game. Truly F2P, great graphics, exciting gameplay.
Edit. I absolutely hate the ship interface. I wish they would go back to how it was. A nice simple UI.

I liked the simple UI as well, you can turn off some of the weird moving elements in the options, like the camera wandering as you move through menus.
The story has been filled out a fair bit in this year, it's still far from a complete narrative and while some of the timeline of events have been confirmed much of the reasons have not so proper context for the past is yet to become clear. Some more "current events" have been moving along nicely so bosses have a place in the universe now, Alad V is infested and trying to cure himself while staying out of trouble and experiments with new infested strains in his research, Sargus Ruk has failed in his job of not letting the tenno gain a foothold in the system and is now demoted in favor of Tyle Regor who is doing his own work like creating the Maniac clone breed of grineer and their variations. Other characters like Maroo and the few cephaladons have moved into the picture as power players out for their own desires, different factions jockey for influence with the tenno and other forces.
The Second Dream quest was the first "cinematic" quest and it contained possibly the most concrete and highest amount of information of any event or quest so far, it really was a turning point for the game as it was a personal and very movie-like moment and the success and love it garnered from the fans has pretty much secured it as the main style of quest going forward for the developers.
