I love Ridley Scott (and I know this is not gonna happen) but it would be cool to see James Cameron do another Aliens. Cameron seems to have a better knack for action, while Scott seems better at uncomfortably tense situations and the realistic side of sci-fi. Am I wrong in that assessment? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I totally agree. Cameron may have a reputation for being a a-hole on the set, but man he gets results. If you doubt it, take a look at the scenes they cut from Aliens to keep the pacing. There's one I recall that got cut which shows more of the auto-sentry firing at the aliens, but it totally stalls the tension from the scene versus the final theatrical cut.

I'd watch a Cameron alien movie, no doubt. I'm sure he wouldn't have ships rotating like hubcaps as a plot device, either. (God that was awful.)

Agree 100% and hope for both more Alien and Terminator from him.

Just make art that sells well enough to make a profit, don't sell-out for a pat on the head from studios. Movies are both art and business, but the balance is too business right now.

Yeah I agree, make something that's inspired and genuine. I have high hopes for it.

I think Scott's already sold out. He has stated in the past he was done with the Alien franchise. He makes Prometheus (which was reall really bad, btw...), which focuses on the Engineers and that was his road map for the sequel.

Then Neill Blomkamp started getting traction on his Alien continuation, then all of a sudden Scott is reviving the Alien franchise again with a tie into the original franchise.

I really think this new alien movie is going to be a pile of poo. He needs to give the reins over to someone whose got some creative juices left running through their veins.

Ridley isn't exactly telling us anything surprising with that. I'm not sure how an Alien movie could be rated anything other than R. How exactly would you do an Alien movie without someone's chest exploding? The only Alien movie to receive less than an R rating was AVP (PG-13), and we'd do well to forget it existed anyway.

I beg to differ. Both AVP films were true to their core - comic books. i consider them brilliantly adapted to a movie form, wish they were longer.

What's an AVP and how fast does it burn?

This is an AVP, and it was pretty much DOA.

"Hard" R? Its either R or its not. Don't go inventing more ratings.
