2016 is awful. Out of 7 billion people on the planet, of which 100,000+ of them die each day, I've recognised two of them from the TV and I can't cope... boo hoo

Oh God, I was just in a taxi. Alan Rickman was in a taxi once.

So tragic. I just eat a steak. Alan Rickman ate steak too.

RIP Alan. My most favouritest actor ever. I just never mentioned him or watched any of his films, apart from that Bruce Willis movie he was in. Forget what it was called.

In tears. I walked down a road yesterday that he walked down 30 years ago. # coincidence?

Devastated. I saw him in a crowd once 15 years ago. He was 400 feet away from me, surrounded by friends, press and security but I felt we had an instant connection. # best friends forever

So sad. Will there be a sale of his movies on Amazon?

http://nytimes.com/2014/08/15/upshot/no-celebrity-deaths-do-not-come-in-threes.html

Best article I could find in a few moments on mobile, but this happens every time a very well-known person dies: people start paying attention to celebrity deaths and draw connections between them.

Celebrity deaths are distributed evenly, just like everybody else's deaths. We are just paying attention and looking for something now that somebody's death got widespread media coverage (Bowie).

Look at Wikipedia's List of deaths in January 2016: there are about the same number of notable people dying every day, but Bowie's death was the one where people started paying attention this time.

Don't know why people get so upset when someone they don't know dies. Rickman wouldn't have given a single shit if any of them died, they think that his is their friend because they watch his movies.

TBH this is a stupid submission. The guy in your second link is actually referring to watching Die Hard around Christmas time.

There's so much legitimate shit to criticize GAF for. This is a reach.
