The Otaku nonsense is basically guys too obsessed with anime they try to carry on relationships with pillows themed in their favorite anime waifu. Try to marry robots and in general seem to reject societal norms. Different end of the spectrum from 3rd wave feminism.

Edit: I'm all for rejecting societal norms in the right context but when it starts to separate yourself from society to where you're not really contributing anything I think it could be a downside.

I'm of the opinion that a rejection of societal norms is by-and-large a healthy thing, because societal norms are morally backwards, or bankrupt. Marrying a pillow, liking cartoons, and detaching from reality doesn't actually hurt anyone, and more importantly, cannot hurt the man doing these things.

Different end of the spectrum from 3rd wave feminism.

I reject this comparison. 3rd wave feminism is all about giving everything to women, including the choice to ruin a man's life at a whim, take his money and things just because they have a vagina, and changing the laws to benefit women and hurt men. None of these things even remotely resemble what's happening in Japan with men.

Men are doing the only logical thing and removing themselves from the situation. They're not trying to fight against women, as doing so could ruin their lives. They're not attempting to get legislation passed that doesn't benefit women, because doing so could ruin their lives. They're not fighting for their own rights, because doing so could ruin their lives.

They're taking their ball, and going home.

I'm all for rejecting societal norms in the right context but when it starts to separate yourself from society to where you're not really contributing anything I think it could be a downside.

As opposed to contributing to a society that is currently geared towards screwing men as much as possible? One that has no possibility of the pendulum swinging back the other way, and giving men a reason to be with women, or contribute? Why put yourself in that position when other options exist?

Men's rights are being taken away at an alarming rate in most places, and there's no reason whatsoever to kowtow to society's shaming you into contributing to such a shit-stacked-against-you life.

I also do not get the hate for people who like their pillows. It is not like it has any capacity to objectively hurt anyone. It may be weird, but weird things not hurting anyone should not be persecuted or even looked down upon.

On the other hand, things that are acceptable but hurt other people.
