Personally I think it should be unlawful to destroy another persons property, even if it is in your own property. Remove it, I can go with that, but destruction of private property should not be tolerated. Are you currently allowed to destroy a car if they park it in your driveway? Can you trash some kids bicycle if they leave it on your front lawn? Why are drones different in this respect?

I think a lot of people were excited to find a new use for their firearms. Which is a really bad idea anyway.

Is that the only argument against these things? There are troves of new tech and "agencies" that exist solely to spy on you, and people are worried about that loud flying thing that sticks out like a sore thumb.

No you are not, most of everyone that knows NOTHING about drones/quads seem to be concerned, and that's because you know nothing about drones. So A few things you need to know. Unless someone is spending BIG BUCKS ($1.5k+) they are not going to be peeping on shit. Most cameras on drones are nearly as bad as a camera on an old flip phone. You can put a go pro on one, but then you need to have a much bigger, and LOUDER, craft to carry it and the price skyrockets. Larger drone also means easier to see once again making spying nearly impossible. The govt can do this as they have drones with cameras that will be able to spy on you from thousands of feet away, but those are millions of dollars. Next is the volume of these craft. They are loud. Any craft large enough to carry a camera decent enough to actually spy on someone will easily be heard through a closed window from 10 feet away. Really anything past that and you just won't have details. There's no real zoom on cameras like the go pro and no mechanism to do so, but also drones are not super stable, you can use a gimbal that will help, but again we start getting into large dollars when you add more weight. Lastly, control. Drones are hard to keep steady and are greatly affected by even little wind. The larger they are the easier they are to control in this respect, but again the louder they are. I welcome you to look on youtube at STANDARD drones, especially the ones used for racing or DJI and try to watch a take off. Notice how quickly they lose detail? Sure you will be able to see a person, just no detail at all.

In the end, it would cost less for a person to get a good camera with a good zoom and go climb a tree 100 ft away to get pictures if they wished to peep. This is really a non-issue.

Anyone know the rules in the states? Do I own the airspace above my property? If so, how high?

Apparently there's a 1946 supreme court case that says 83 feet.
