They are somewhat popular among gamers but still only a fraction of humanity plays them (1m copies, means roughly 1 in 7000 humans), only part of the copies sold are being played, and an even smaller fraction of the playerbase has any desire to interact on websites like this. I would take /u/mHtt 's advice and start the communities yourself and hopefully they will grow over time.

The problem with starting a community, is that if it doesn't take off, all you get is wasted time and effort. I also wouldn't like to start one because I enjoy the "hop on the forums, post, and start playing" approach, and don't have time to put into the community itself. I am very much a user not a creator.
