Start over will just end up the same place again. People can change for a while, but will be back to the same things.

Humans have always been materialistic, hedonistic, and apathetic towards the problems of humanity that do not directly affect them. This article discusses the trace of materialism that is present in humanity throughout history.

Holding misanthropic views is not that unique IMO, the laws of life continuing necessitates the domination and subjugation of others if they hold resources necessary for propagating that specific life form. To suggest otherwise ignores the objective realities that DNA demands from human beings. DNA only wants to be extended, and has no arbitrary moral guidances.

"Civilization" has more or less independently started itself 6 times in human history (Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, India, northern Indian tribes and southern Indian empires (aztecs, etc.)) And in all of those cases we got all of the problems listed. The only real exception would be northern Indian tribes, who didn't have disease. They still had war and famine though.

My point is what would make it different this time?
