The fun thing about reading books is that by increasing your own vocabulary you can weed out which people also read books and are worth talking to.

Also define worth it? I value my time doing stuff differently from others.

I play endless amounts of video games, I've put in over 72 hours into fallout since thanksgiving. So I hope no one sees this in the wrong light when I say it.
I find the people who spend so much time sitting in-front of a screen usually come from families who did the same. My father would get home at 6 then promptly sit on the couch for the next 5 hours watching tv until he went to bed. Or he'd break that up by complaining about how much time I spend on my pc/console. Meanwhile he raised me, I'd spend the daylight hours playing when I could find a friend but after 6 what options did I have? Unless he was going to take me places, share his hobbies with me, whatever there was only so much I could do.

What about the 3 years of life the average person spends watching advertisements? Ads are basically a prison sentence.

I always counter with how long they watch TV/Netflix.

Think about how many people play games too. If this was worldwide that can't come out to more than an average of 4 or 5 hours per week.
