Hypocritical Sanders jumps on the wagon that has been pushed by GOP politicians for years
[–] RedditIsPropaganda23 1 point 4 points 5 points (+5|-1) ago
You realize Bernie wanted to audit the Fed -for just the bailout period- so that the damn bill could get passed in the first place.
No audit the Fed bill had passed before that.

Your apologist attempts are noted

Very skeptical of this. If it was one of the Pauls I'd understand.

Bullshit. Bernie sabotaged the FED audit bill from 5 years ago.
[–] pilot_2 9 points 25 points 34 points (+34|-9) ago (edited ago)
Don't know how many times this has to be disproved. Ron Paul was in office for 16 years and could not get an audit passed. Bernie got the first ever audit passed by compromising to audit just the bailout period. Of course he wants to go further by doing a full audit. That's what he wanted then and that's what he wants now.
[–] STARVE_THE_BEAST 12 points 2 points 14 points (+14|-12) ago (edited ago)
Uh no, he bated and switched it at the 11th hour with an impotent audit that included ZERO provisions to monitor the discount window, interest rates, or foreign contract activities of the Fed, i.e. the entire basis of how it sets monetary policy.
Your spin notwithstanding, Sanders was just another Judas on behalf of banking interests, because he sabotaged a real audit and pushed through the bill they were lobbying for.
[–] sinjinsmythe 0 points 14 points 14 points (+14|-0) ago
Look them up for yourselves. www.govtrack.us . Sanders introduced Paul's House bill into the Senate. Neither bill was passed and the text of both is exactly the same. Paul reintroduced the bill in 2012 where it passed the House but was never passed in the Senate. Why would you just believe some loser on a blog instead of doing a quick bit of research...?
This was one of the comments on Starve's link. Anyone care to actually research this before making proclamations?

Yup, right wingers are duped into going against their self interest
[–] 9-11 9 points 1 point 10 points (+10|-9) ago
the media and his party have judged him inadequate and moved on. he will never win a general election with a full on socialist platform - i'm not rejecting it just being realistic. but jeez, just imagine bernie winning, he'd have his inauguration in january and putin would be in Prague by february. without the 'crazy' factor of the american president, adversaries start thinking gibmedat.

Rand Paul did it first
[–] CatNamedJava ago
Actually deloitte & touche did it first. In fact they did one earlier this year.
[–] Big_Willy_Wallace 0 points 14 points 14 points (+14|-0) ago
Actually, it was Ron Paul who did it first. Funny how we forget what happened fucking 5 years ago.
[–] SrSysEng 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
Then it's on Rand to bring it up on the floor also. I'm all for cooperation when it comes to getting the audit done.
[–] peacegnome 1 point 2 points 3 points (+3|-1) ago
Sanders already killed "audit the fed", it is difficult to think that he is actually being sincere this time around. I would love nothing more than to make monetary policy in the US/World transparent, but we'll have to see what happens and not take him at his word.
